Free Weezy

Just in case you haven't already heard, Lil Wayne is out of jail after serving 8 months out of his 1 year sentence. According to MTV.com he plans to head to Miami and see family and friends while finishing up the outlines to his probation stemming from another case. He also looked rejuvenated when photographed sitting courtside at a New Orleans Hornets game with his friends Baby and Mack Maine. For more on the story head to MTV.com. I want to do a longer post on Lil Wayne and the state of hip hop so stay tuned for upcoming posts.

Far East Movement

When I ask most people have you heard of Far East Movement? Those people usually say no, but the minute I mention "Like a G6" everyone knows exactly what I'm talking about. Take 1 cup of dance beats, 1 tablespoon of pop and 1 teaspoon of hip hop and what you get is "free wired". FEM uses that term to describe their eclectic style. Made up of four childhood friends, Proghgress, Kevnish, J-Spliff,and DJ Virman continue to wow everyone with their remarkable talent. Check these songs out Like a G6, Rocketeer, and Girls on the Dance floor

Shoulder pads? Check. Combat Boots? Check? A fist full of cash? Check? Okay maybe the shoulder pads and combat boots are a little bit of a stretch, but the question I keep asking myself is what should I wear for a frenzy filled shopping debut? I've thought about it long and hard and the best outfit I could think of is something more on the simple side. Leggings/tights, an easy breezy shirt with a tank underneath or even a pullover sweater because lets face it we are approaching winter. It's easy just thinking about the change room lineups is very depressing. So what I would do is find a corner if possible and slip any pair of bottoms over my leggings and position any dress or blouse over my tank top. With these tips you should be ready for any fashion frenzy.P.S any shoes you can kick off would be great to wear as well.Ready...set..shop!

Colour Me Camel

Okay so it may seem that I'm a bit behind the curve when it comes to updating my blog but I just had to speak out on my new favourite trend; CAMEL. I think that this shade is the perfect neutral when you don't want to succumb to the ordinary black, navy,or even brown.I love this trend because I feel like it is so classic it will last for many seasons to come, I feel instantly more polished with a great neutral anchor and above all it's of course right on trend now. Here's some great pieces I found online.

Accessorie Tips: How about trying red lipstick of any shade? Or you can play with subtle shades of purple, greens or even blues for eyeshadow. You can also add a bright coloured belt or even add a leopard scarf for punch. Gold costume jewelery would also be a great topper for an outfit like this.Check it out:

Drizzy Shows Love

I love talented musicians! What I love even more? A humble down to earth musician who shows constant love to his fans. ENTER DRAKE AKA DRIZZY! Just in case you didn't hear about it, this past long weekend in Toronto Drake held a star studded concert for his fans. Some of the artists that were featured were Young Jeezy, Bun B, Rick Ross, Kardinal Offishall, and Mack Maine... Oh and these other two artists by the name of JAY Z AND EMINEM!!!!! Amazing is the only word that comes to mind. Now if that wasn't enough according to MTV.com, Drake will soon be releasing a free rnb mixtape very soon. This is his direct quote he gives MTV "I got you. I think I got a great body of work with that tape. I'm gonna do it like I do all my other tapes. I'm gonna make a night out of it. Just make sure you're on the Net that night downloading, and it's yours. I feel the people deserve it. It's hard for me to put out free rap albums these days. So the best I can do is switch genres and put something out for free. It'll be yours very soon." You can check out the full article at MTV.com, but in the meantime enjoy Renegade by Jay Z and Eminem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdz3StIpErw and also Light it up by Drake featuring Jay Z http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKuF65FaP6g
I can't wait to hear the rnb mixtape! What do you guys think?

Copy Cat

Don't you hate it when you have on that perfect dress or coat, you feel super confident and then all of a sudden you see another girl in the exact same perfect piece? Or maybe you have a friend who sees you wearing new marc jacobs heels one day and then two week later you spot her wearing the same thing but in a different colour. Now because I'm a frequent shopper at H&M and Zara this can be a huge problem. So that's why after months of trying I've decided to dispense some ideas for setting yourself apart from the crowd.

Go Vintage: Going vintage can really be beneficial but the key to shopping vintage is to know yourself. " Sure that dress looks like a tent but I'll just sew it up"(meanwhile you haven't sewn anything since junior high) or " yeah my style is classic but this 80's hot pink polka dot skirt will look really cute on me" (umm seriously?). Do your research, look up critiques, and see what's missing in your closet. Think, are alterations really going to happen for you? and lastly be patient. No one places a diamond ring on the top of a hay stack, you've got to dig dig dig so be patient for that diamond!

Accessorize: Accessories can really change any outfit dressing it up or down in a snap. So lets start out with a work outfit. (Oh and by the way if you take transit to work, and you get invited out for drinks with some co workers where do you put your big work bag when you want to swap it out for a cute little clutch?)Just saying... Okay so back to the work outfit. If you're wearing a blazer you can carry it in your hand. If you're wearing flats switch it out for heels or if you're already wearing heels opt for sky high heels. That's just the gist of it but my favourite accessorie changers are gold tone menswear watches, hoop earrings, pearls, oversized clutches( the huger the better because if it's your style it can easily work for daytime without running into my aforementioned problem lol),skinny belts, weird cocktail rings( think colour, texture and random animals) and lastly fake eyelashes(not necessarily from work to play, but just to add a firty vibe to your total package.) If you want to try the lashes I suggest speaking to a professional first when buying them. So whether it's lady pretending to be busy at Sephora or the lady behing the counter at Shoppers, it's best to be safe than sorry.

D.I.Y: Now who's more original than you? There are so many online D.I.Y's that it's hard to even start to list them all. Have you ever seen a runway piece and thought "that Lanvin dress would be perfect in my closet, but too bad I don't have $4000". Or maybe you thought "I wish that skirt could come in my size". Well why not D.I.Y? Shop what you need for your project during the week and as a Sunday project you can go to work on it. Hand sew or dust off that old sewing machine. So what's left? Have some ice cream, watch one of The Real Desperate Housewives shows and you may just be surprised with what you come up with. Hey it could turn out like crap or you could actually have it as a new item in your closet. Don't limit yourself and don't get frustrated!

Here's to being inspired and finding ways to not dress like everyone else.

Nautical Vibes

So whether you love her or hate her the fact is Olivia Palermo's sense of style never takes a break. Here she captures an ultra relaxed nautical vibe and it's awesome. Now although this look is right on trend the fact is horizontal stripes are not going to be flattering on everyone. A key tip when shopping is that horizontal stripes are often used to balance out the body. If you carry most of you're weight on the bottom half don't be afraid of a stripe on top. Just make sure it's not a thin stripe and that it fits you proportions. Here are some key pieces you can get to achieve Olivia's look.
